I could never imagine that my Mechanical Engineering education could prepare me for a managerial career but that is precisely what I found when I was researching the subjects I would be taught during an MBA. Subjects like Operational Research and Industrial Systems that I excelled at in college also form a part of the MBA curriculum. I am sure that my seven years of experience with a premier corporate such as xxx in a highly rigorous profile, overseas exposure, and my solid educational background have prepared me well for a career as a manager and corporate leader.

As a manager, I am in charge of a team of seven now and as I have been deputed to the client location (xxxxxx) since Oct 2010, I have been discharging the duties of a project leader. I was amongst the rare resources who had been deputed to work at the client side (xxxxxx) with only 3 years of work experience then and have been onsite since the last 4 years now. Recently I got an opportunity to lead a team that grabbed a project worth xxxxxxxxx. Leading from front, I was actively involved in the xxxxxxx process of this project. The scope involved migrating all the marketing websites of the client into a different and more robust platform and I am confidently leading my team towards success as I have done on numerous occasions in the last xxxxxxxx years. An MBA will now empower me further by giving me a detailed perspective of the non- technical side of business and expose me to Strategic Planning, financial modeling, etc. enabling me to rejoin the industry at a position much nearer to my eventual career goals.

My short-term goal is to look for Business Relationship Manager (BRM) level position as I find that I enjoy the process of forging business relationships and interacting with people and clients. I am sure that the technical knowledge I have acquired with be complimented perfectly by the business insights I shall get during the MBA. The role of BRM will help me in addressing customer needs and deliver visible business impact to customer.

Eventually, I would like to achieve the position of Vice president or a Director at a leading corporate. The three requisites that will help me in this journey will be my current knowledge of people management, future MBA degree and future BRM role. As a top ranking decision maker and manager, I will introduce improved processes and update current methodologies followed so as to make them more responsive and sensitive to rapidly changing business environments in which we function today.

I believe an MBA will help me in understanding more about the complex business needs and thus I would be able to differentiate my company from the competitors. I plan to take advantage of the opportunities presented to become involved in business development projects. I see myself leading a big team, working with a group of highly motivated people to grow my organization's business and contributing to society.

Here, I will get the chance to network with people in the Asia region and to gain an insight into these fast emerging economies, forming the bulwark of my future career. IIMB will teach me how to make the most of my available resources and also provide me with exposure to the best business minds in India in the form of the faculty and peers.
